The Dormouse King

The film The Dormouse King tells about Frank who set out to learn to behave unreasonably. And on his way he finds Recep, music and words. Frank (24) is a trainee biology and maths teacher. He is disciplined and pretty uptight. When his girlfriend Luisa tells him about her being pregnant he doubts that he is the father. Luisa leaves him. Frank meets her by chance on the streets a few weeks later. She is obviously pregnant now and out with another guy. That encounter leaves him confused. He starts to lose his grip on things a bit and goes wandering through the city. Then one day he is caught up in the middle of a dispute between two of his neighbours. Frank takes the side of one of them. His name is Recep. He is much older than Frank and works as a cook. What's more he plays the trumpet. Meeting Recep awakens a hunger for music in Frank. Slowly a friendship develops between Recep, a political guy who left Turkey in the eighties, and Frank, the nature-loving loner.
